Research on Digital Design of Scenic Area Landscape Planning Empowered by Smart Tourism Technologies

Abstract: With the advancement of smart tourism technologies such as big data, the Internet of Things, and AR/VR, the limitations of traditional scenic area landscape planning—relying on experiential judgment, low alignment with visitor needs, and weak dynamic management capabilities—have become increasingly apparent. Furthermore, existing technology applications often remain fragmented, disconnected from the landscape itself. This paper employs literature review, case analysis, and field research to examine the intrinsic logic between smart tourism technologies and scenic area landscape planning. It dissects practical bottlenecks and constructs a digital design strategy encompassing “technology adaptation-end-to-end data closed-loop-cultural and experiential empowerment.” The study clarifies specific application pathways for technologies like big data, IoT, and digital twins, while proposing tailored solutions for different scenic area types. Research indicates this strategy can propel scenic area landscape planning from experience-driven to data-driven approaches, effectively balancing ecological conservation with visitor experiences while enhancing planning scientific rigor and sustainability. It enriches the theoretical framework at the intersection of smart tourism and landscape planning while providing actionable practical references for smart scenic area development.
