Progress in Cancer Cell Apoptosis Mechanism Research: A Social Science Review

Abstract: The research on cancer cell apoptosis mechanism has experienced a paradigm shift from “molecular mechanism exploration” to “clinical transformation and social integration”, becoming a typical case of interdisciplinary interaction between life sciences and social sciences. This review systematically sorts out the core progress of cancer cell apoptosis mechanism research (including key molecular regulatory networks, targeted therapy development, and precision medicine practice), and from the perspectives of health sociology, medical anthropology, public policy, and communication studies, deeply analyzes the social impacts brought by these progresses: the reconstruction of health equity patterns under the stratification of medical resources, the transformation of doctor-patient power relations in the era of precision medicine, the ethical disputes triggered by gene editing and other technologies, and the cognitive gaps in public acceptance of new therapies. It also combs the multi-level governance responses of countries around the world, and proposes a “technology progress-social adaptation-policy regulation” coordinated development framework. It is argued that only by integrating the technical logic of cancer cell apoptosis research with the value logic of social development can we maximize the population health dividends of scientific and technological progress and promote the equitable and sustainable development of cancer treatment.
