A Comparative Analysis of Talent Export and Market Compatibility in Higher Art Education between China and Malaysia

Abstract: In the context of globalization, the talent output and market adaptability of higher art education have become important criteria for evaluating educational quality. This paper takes higher art education in China and Malaysia as its research subject, focusing on the alignment issues between the “academic” education model and societal demands. By comparing the differences between the two countries in terms of curriculum design, teaching methods, industry-academia collaboration, and talent output directions, the paper analyzes the strengths and weaknesses of China’s higher art education in the process of talent cultivation and market demand alignment. Drawing on practical experience from work at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, the paper also proposes improvement suggestions. The study finds that Malaysia’s higher art education practices in multicultural integration, applied talent cultivation, and market-oriented alignment offer valuable insights. China can build on the solid foundation of its “academic” tradition while further strengthening market orientation to enhance the targeting and adaptability of talent output, thereby better meeting societal demands for art talent.
